African-American Cowboys

When I was growing up, I never knew that there were African-American cowboys. On television films and movies, I saw Kenny Rogers, Lone Ranger, Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson, Jesse James, and there were many more that were seen as cowboys. They were either Mexicans or White Americans. In school, I never saw any black cowboys in history books. Today, I learn that there were African-American cowboys as far back as the 1800’s. According to BlackCowboys.com, the most famous black cowboy of all is Nat Love. He was born a slave in Tennessee. Nat had a love of the free and wild life on the range. Soon he was known as a good all around cowboy. Check out the African American Cowboy documentary below of African-American Cowboy.
